The Challenge

At BAE Systems, a leading British multinational conglomerate, is one of the largest Aerospace & Defense (A&D) companies in the world. With divisions and subdivisions all over the world, and a series of mergers and acquisitions, keeping business running smoothly can be complicated.

When it came to change management in its US-based electronic systems division, BAE faced a major challenge. Numerous physical locations, a heterogenous work culture and over 10,000 employees necessitated a streamlined solution for manufacturing execution.

The Approach

BAE Systems needed a Manufacturing Execution System that could handle its important work for highly complex electronics applications, including Survivability & Testing, Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance, Commercial Aircraft, Communication & Control, Electronic Combat and Public Transportation. In order to ensure effective implementaion with a productive end-user experience, BAE decided to put its people first. A phased approach incorporating increased engagement was a major course correction the company implemented before its MES roll-out.

"From an IT perspective, we could be chugging along and have the perfect technical solution, but it's important to consider how that solution lines up with the organization and its people."

Manager, Information Management, BAE Systems
